FAQs

Q Why choose MST Adventures?

MST Adventures offers high quality equipment that has proven itself over and over. We rent only the gear that we trust will provide a positive and unique experience for you. From our MSR Snowshoes to our NRS Life Jackets, our gear is tuff as nails.

Q What is included with the tour?

All SUP tours include introductory instruction from a professional guide, all necessary paddling equipment (including a dry bag for spare clothes, phone, and keys), refreshments, and a unique and beautiful tour through the Middle Rio Grande Valley. Adjustable paddles allow users to stand, sit, or kneel on the boards for comfort and stability. At the end of the day, we bring you back to your vehicles and our guides clean up the equipment. As we progress down the river we will take in the natural sounds and wildlife along the way. Truly a fantastic, fun, and cost-effective way to enjoy the beauty of Albuquerque.

Q What should I bring with me?

Whether you are taking a biking class, a water based class, or just picking up a rental, you should always plan for the weather by dressing in layers; in addition to packing plenty of high energy snacks, water, and sunscreen. Each class and activity will list required equipment based on the discipline and activity level.

Q Why use a SUP?

One of the biggest benefits of a SUP over kayaks or canoes is it's low draft depth (how deep in the water the board sits). You can paddle a SUP in just 3 inches of water! During the Balloon Fiesta, the Rio Grande is in a very low-stage. The water is usually very shallow and sandbars and islands abound. Instead of spending half your time getting in and out of a kayak to to get un-stuck, why not enjoy the trip on a SUP? If you do still happen to get stuck, simply step off the board, move it over and step back on!

Q What if I don't have the best balance?

No worries! Our SUPs are as wide as many of the sidewalks in Albuquerque! It takes most people between 5-15 minutes to become comfortable enough standing on their board. If you're feeling a bit wobbly, take a knee! Our paddles are adjustable, so paddling from positions other than standing is just as comfortable.
